The purpose of the Craft Horse Contest is to provide an educational opportunity for participants to exhibit their craft skills pertaining to the horse project and to encourage participants to explore and develop economic alternatives for themselves and their horse.

Contest Categories

Woodworking and craft items suitable for a horse project, including accessories for the horse, rider and facilities (for example, saddle trees, bridle holders, stall signs, blanket holders, etc.)

Please thoroughly read the Craft Horse Contest section in the NC 4-H Horse Program Rulebook (pages 177-179) for additional information on contest rules, regulations, etc.

2021 Contest Registration is taking place through NC 4-H Online 2.0 “events” and the deadline to enter is June 15. Exhibits must be submitted in the dining room of the James B. Hunt Horse Complex in Raleigh at the NC State 4-H Horse Show on July 9 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Entries will be judged beginning at 5:00 p.m. Exhibits will be on display on July 10 from 10-4 and projects and awards can be picked up starting at 4:00 on Saturday afternoon.
