Collapse ▲The 2021 NC 4-H State Virtual Hippology Contest took place on March 13, 2021. Contestants navigated an exam, slide IDs, and judging classes in an online platform. Senior and junior contestants also completed 10 stations. Six Senior Rookies and 17 Junior Rookies competed in the event for the first time! In the senior division, there were 57 contestants and 11 teams. The junior division had 25 contestants and 2 teams.
In the junior division, Bryleigh Colbert from Nash County and Saona Wilcox from Alamance County took home the Reserve and Champion Junior Horseman of the Year honors, respectively. Beth Burchell and Jodie Knight coached the Halifax County Junior Team to first place. Team members were Colton Irby, Mackenzie Hubbard, and Cassidy Conwell. The top Junior Rookie contestant was Laurel Evens from Harnett County.
Madison Noblin from Wake County and Hannah Williams from Union County were crowned the Reserve and Champion Senior Horseman of the Year, respectively. Madison Noblin, Annie Winter, Anna Ross Carmichael, and Grace Munsell were the top Senior Team, representing Wake County. The Wake County team was coached by Beth Morgan. Senior Rookie High individual honors went to Molly Shell, representing Avery County.
Five youth also completed the Cloverbud Division of the 2021 NC State 4-H Hippology Contest:

- Tristan Irby, Halifax County
- Toot McCauley, Cumberland County
- Anna Grace Morgan, Harnett County
- Delaney Murnan, Harnett County
