The North Carolina 4-H Horse Program Delegation had an outstanding showing at the recent Eastern National 4-H Horse Round-Up in Louisville, Kentucky. Teams and individuals from 25 different states competed in Horse Judging, Horsebowl, Hippology, and Communications events. North Carolina was represented very well in all events, capturing the Hippology Team, Horsebowl Team, Horsebowl Individual, Team Presentation, and Horse Judging Team champion titles.

The NC 4-H Hippology team, coached by Wake County leader Beth Morgan, was 1st overall, 1st in written, 1st in stations, 7th in judging, and 5th in team problem. All four team members placed in the overall top ten standings. The team also placed second overall at the All American Quarter Horse Congress Contest in Columbus Ohio.

The NC 4-H Horsebowl team went undefeated in four matches to earn 1st place honors. Hannah Williams won the high-scoring individual title, earning a $500 scholarship sponsored by the New Horizons Equine Education Center, and a trophy from the Arabian Horse Association. Coached by Chatham County volunteer leaders Mary Dickerson and Ruth Vorder Bruegge, the team was also the reserve champions at the All American Quarter Horse Congress Contest in Columbus Ohio.

The NC 4-H Communications team earned the Reserve Champion Communications team award for their collective scores in Individual Presentation, Public Speaking, and Team Presentation. Anastasia Smith and Austen-Stinson Miller were crowned Team Presentation champions with their "Hoof Busters" presentation. They both received bronze trophies from the Pinto Horse Association and $500 scholarships sponsored by APHA's Horse IQ and St. Andrews University.

Samantha Taylor, Union County Volunteer leader, coached the 2021 NC 4-H Horse Judging Team to a first-place finish overall. The team was also first in halter and performance and second in reasons. Olivia Hill was the reserve high individual overall, receiving a trophy from the Arabian Horse Association.
