NC 4-H’ers Bring Home 2021 Eastern National 4-H Horse Round-Up Wins

The North Carolina 4-H Horse Program Delegation had an outstanding showing at the recent Eastern National 4-H Horse Round-Up in Louisville, Kentucky. Teams and individuals from 25 different states competed in Horse Judging, Horsebowl, Hippology, and Communications events. North Carolina was represented very well in all events, capturing the Hippology Team, Horsebowl Team, Horsebowl Individual, Team Presentation, and Horse Judging Team champion titles. Here is a summary of the results:

Hippology

1st place team overall (1st in written, 1st in stations, 7th in judging, 5th in team problem)

  • 3rd High Individual Overall- Savannah Lindsey (3rd in stations)
  • 6th High Individual Overall- Annie Winter (5th in written, 5th in stations)
  • 7th High Individual Overall- Madie Noblin (6th in written, 2nd in stations,
  • 9th High Individual Overall- Raegan Shepherd (8th in written, 10th in stations)

The 2021 Hippology team coached by Beth Morgan (Wake County, top): L to R, Bottom to Top: Savannah Lindsey (Cumberland County), Madie Noblin (Wake County), Annie Winter (Wake County), and Raegan Shepherd (Johnston County). At the Eastern National 4-H Roundup, the team was 7th in the judging phase, 1st in the stations phase, 1st in the exam phase, 5th in the team problem phase, and was the champion overall team. Individually, Savannah was 3rd, Annie was 6th, Madie was 7th, and Raegan was 9th.

The 2021 Horse Bowl team, coached by Mary Dickerson and Ruthy Vorder-Bruegge (Chatham County, top): L to R, Bottom to Top: Hannah Williams (Union County), Samantha Durham (Chatham County), Stevie Neff-Sharum (Cumberland County), and Lauren Williams (Gaston County). The team won 1st place overall at the Eastern National 4-H Horse Roundup. Individually, Hannah placed 1st, Stevie placed 3rd, and Lauren placed 7th overall.

The 2021 Communications Team were the Reserve Champions at the Eastern National 4-H Round-Up. Kyra Worth (Johnston) placed 9th in Individual Presentation, Cayden Lowe (Currituck) was 6th in Public Speaking, and Anastasia Smith and Austen-Stinson Miller (Orange) were 1st in Team Presentation.

At the Eastern National 4-H Roundup, the team was 1st in conformation, 1st in performance, 2nd in oral reasons, and was the champion overall team. Individually Olivia was 2nd, Abi was 4th, and Victoria was 9th.

For winning High Overall Individual in the Hippology contest, Cassandra Sigmon received a $500 scholarship from the sponsors of the Eastern National Round Up and a trophy from the American Saddlebred Association. Cassandra, Caitlin Smith and Kaitlyn Johnson received plaques from the American Quarter Horse Association for their categorical wins.
